Letting agents turned out in force at the first my|deposits disputes workshop to hear the latest advice on tenancy deposit protection.
The interactive workshop, held at the Holiday Inn Kensington, London, was oversubscribed, with more than 100 agents attending in a coup for the organisation which was set up by the National Landlords Association with landlords, rather than agents, in mind.

Owners of second homes in England could lose council tax discounts, under plans due to be announced by Communities Secretary Eric Pickles later.
Councils would have the power to reduce or remove council tax relief on second homes and empty homes. Second homes currently receive up to 50% discount.

House prices staged a surprise, if small, recovery in October, increasing by 0.4% despite concerns the economy might be heading back into recession.
The rise lifted house prices into positive territory for the first time in six months, leaving them 0.8% higher over the year.
A haunted house can affect the price of property, research suggests

As Halloween gets underway almost a quarter of property owners in the UK claim that they have lived in a haunted house and a further one in ten believe their house has an atmosphere about it.
The research by property website Globrix also found that 15% of home buyers don’t believe in ghosts but still wouldn’t buy a house branded haunted and 54% say home owners shouldn’t be obliged to tell prospective buyers their property is haunted.
